牛津實用英語語法:146 need not和 must not用于現在時和將來時

　　need not可用于現在時和過去時。各人稱的形式都一樣。(參見第148節。)need not表示無義務。它表示說話人允許不去做某事，或僅僅表示某事并非必要：

　　Employer：You neednt make two copies.One will do.

　　雇主：你不用打印兩份。一份就夠了。

　　Give them this cheque.They neednt send me a receipt.

　　把這張支票給他們。他們不用給我送來收據。

　　You neednt change(your clothes).Just come as you are.

　　你不用換(衣服)了。就穿著現在穿的衣服來吧。

　　must not表示否定的義務，即說話人叫你不要如何或是特別強調地勸告你不可如何：

　　You mustnt repeat this to anyone.

　　你不能把這件事告訴任何別人。

　　Notice in shop：Staff must not smoke when serving customers.

　　商店通告：工作人員在為顧客服務時一律不許抽煙。

　　You mustnt leave your car unlocked.This place is full of thieves.

　　你千萬不能不鎖車門就離開。這地方遍地是小偷。
